Founded in October 2014, Wairua Sinfonietta is a unique Auckland-based orchestra whose players hold a strong belief that music can strengthen communities and unite the world. With like-minded musicians and supporters, Wairua Sinfonietta puts on high quality concerts to increase awareness and raise funds for charitable organisations locally and around the globe. 

Wairua Sinfonietta is made up of established musicians, university music performance graduates and emerging artists who are embarking on their music career. With a focus on classical music from the 18th to mid 19th century, Wairua Sinfonietta is quickly establishing itself as the champion of this era by exploring the repertoire of Beethoven, Haydn, Mozart, Vanhal, Dittersdorf and more in every concert. 

Wairua Sinfonietta is also a platform for established and emerging New Zealand composers. Since our inception, we have performed works by New Zealand composers Helen Fischer and Oliver Huang-Hsu. We will also be performing works by Douglas Lilburn and Anthony Ritchie in the remaining concerts in 2015. 'Unity through music'. It is our belief in performance and education as a means of developing our community that drives Wairua Sinfonietta's goal of providing performance opportunities for emerging artists and post-graduate performance students; as well as creating a place to share the stage and music with some world-class soloists.
